About the Leicester Masterclass
The Leicester Masterclass is a great opportunity for you to spend valuable time in the School of Business, participating in an exciting programme of lectures, workshops and study support activities. Importantly it also offers an environment where you can meet, study and network with fellow distance learning students from across the globe.
When
The 2017 Leicester Masterclass takes place from Thursday 31 August and draws to close with the Gala Dinner on Wednesday 6 September.
Venue
The University of Leicester.
The masterclass provides you with an ideal opportunity to visit your campus and make the most of the facilities available. The campus is only a short walk away from Leicester city centre where you have access to all the attractions of a major UK city.
Accommodation
We can arrange accommodation for you in Nixon Court Halls of Residence, which is a five/ten minute walk away from campus. Facilities include en-suite bedrooms in flats of five or six rooms. Flats are allocated to single sex groups only. Each flat has its own lounge/kitchen area. Wifi internet access is available and there is a launderette on site.
Travel
Please note that parking is not available at Nixon Court or on the University campus. Limited parking is available at the nearby Welford Road Pay and Display car park however we would encourage you to travel to the Leicester Masterclass by public transport.
Fees
There is a fee to attend the Leicester Masterclass and this is to cover accommodation, catering and social event costs. You do need to pay this cost in advance and your place at the Leicester Masterclass cannot be confirmed until payment is made.
Travel to the Leicester Masterclass is not included in the fees and you will have to make your own travel arrangements to Leicester. Information on transport links in the UK will be available on the dedicated Leicester Masterclass Blackboard site. Once you are registered to attend you will be given access to this site.

Who can attend
All School of Business distance learning students are welcome to attend the Leicester Masterclass, with the exception of those studying the MSc Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management course. This is due to these students having dedicated and specialised study schools held twice annually.
Attendance at the Leicester Masterclass is optional for students on the following programmes:
- Certificate, Diploma and BSc Human Resource Management
- Professional Diploma in Management
- MSc’s Finance, Human Resource Management and Training, Industrial Relations and Workplace Learning, Management, Marketing and Performance Management and Workplace Learning.
- Leicester MBA (pre-April 2017 start).
For Leicester MBA students studying from April 2017 attendance at the Leicester Masterclass counts towards your total contact hours. The Distance Learning Administration Team can advise you on the routes you can take to achieve your required contact hours.
There is no limit to how many times you can attend the Leicester Masterclass whilst studying with us.
